Colour & Finish
All Matthew James' handmade bespoke kitchens, bedrooms and
furniture are available in natural wood or hand painted
finishes.
The timbers used are of the
finest quality available and originate from sustainably managed woodlands
around the world. The most common timbers we use are European Oak, American
Black Walnut, Cherry and Ash, with American popular, also known as Tulipwood,
being used for the hand painted furniture.
Natural Wood is finished with a lacquer that has a
soft sheen and provides a durable long-lasting protection.
Painted furniture is meticulously prepared, primed and
hand painted after installation by our experienced, specialist painter with
every brush stroke following the grain.
Choosing Colour
Farrow & Ball is our chosen paint supplier simply because
of the high quality of paint they offer. There paint is only mixed by Farrow
& Ball as they insist on checking each batch themselves before it leaves
the factory, thus ensuing it's perfect every time.
When it comes to choosing colour, there are no strict rules,
but there are many things to take into consideration. Light is above all the
main one, as this will contribute to changing colours.
It helps to establish which neutrals you feel most
comfortable with and the type of atmosphere you want to achieve. So whether
it's a traditional setting with a contemporary twist or a country feel that
provides warmth, there are a collection of colours that will give you exactly
what you want.
With over 130 colours in
the Farrow & Ball range, all available in the various paint types, from
Interior Emulsion to Gloss, as well as floor paint and Exterior Masonry, you
can be sure to find what you are looking for.
We have a colour fan book from Farrow & Ball to help you
decide together with complimentary colour cards, which you can take away with
you.
Estate Eggshell is the chosen finish
for our hand painted furniture, which is a reduced solvent based,
environmentally friendly alternative to Oil based paints. It is extremely
durable with a low sheen level and is an excellent complement to their Estate
Emulsion and Modern Emulsion paints.
Matthew James have a decorator on hand, should you choose to
have your room finished completely without having to lift a paint brush or
roller yourself. |
