| "After
Deciding to extend our home, we invited Matthew James to design our kitchen for
us". |
|
 |
At first we
were undecided whether or not to have a separate utility room, so Matthew James
provided two designs, one with and one without. As soon as we saw the designs
we instantly knew which was right for us and it was definitely
without.
Painted furniture was chosen topped with a mixture of
granite and warm wood to accentuate the unfitted yet elegant look of the
kitchen. A laundry cabinet was included to provide a hide away for the washing
machine and tumble dryer, as well as slated shelving to air the clean washing,
ready for ironing. |

The success of the island
can be attributed to its multfunctional design. The vast granite worktop serves
as a perfect preparation area, while the double farmhouse sink is positioned on
the inner side of the island looking out onto the room, but also benefits by
having a view of the garden. A microwave, dishwasher and pull out cargo bin are
also built in. The low-level bookcase to the end of the island was finished
with a a warm timber top and leads into the dinning area of the
room.
The dresser was a little gem, as it came out of Matthew James's
showroom and was re-painted in Lizard Green to provide a subtle contrast to the
cream of the kitchen. |
