| "I wanted a large
kitchen and family room all in one". |
|
 |
 |
The
kitchen in this house was originally two rooms. When the dividing wall was
removed, the original coving was put to one side and re-used when Matthew James
Furniture built the false chimney breast and overmantel around the existing
four-oven Aga. Juperano Granite was used for the worktops, while the cream
paint finish and simple door design proved practical for a family with young
children and a dog.
The kitchen hosts
many design features that were requested by the customer and include a
television cabinet, which is mounted on the wall to the right hand side of the
chimney breast and mirrors the wall cabinet on the opposite side. It has a
pocket door, which neatly slides back within the cabinet and allows full
viewing of the television. There are also concealed storage cabinets behind the
panels of the mantel, ideal for spices and bottles and a purposed built larder
to house the ironing board, iron and vacuum cleaner. |
|
 |
A full
size integrated dishwasher was a must, as well as an integrated larder fridge,
built in beside the Aga - in addition to the Aga fridge and freezer. A single
utility sink was positioned at the far end of the kitchen with a Perrin &
Rowe Parthian Tap and recessed grooves in the granite top.
The wall tiles are from the Natural History collection which
have been exclusively designed for Fired Earth by renowned ceramicist Alice
Gibbons and feature an Olive and Alder tile tree panel behind the
Aga. |
