In the
beginning...
Matthew James Furniture was
established by Mike Chadwick and was created from a desire to provide high
quality furniture.
Mike's background has
always been joinery. After leaving school at 15, he began an apprenticeship
with a local firm where he was taught the traditional skills of joinery, of
which he continues to use to this day. Even after more than two decades in the
industry, it is immediately evident that Mike is still as passionate and
enthusiastic today, as he was on the first day he started.
In 1994 he ventured out on his own and began by making
"one-off" commissions for private individuals as well as corporate and
commercial companies. It wasn't long before customers asked if he could make a
complete kitchen or bedroom. This was the beginning of Matthew James Furniture,
a company which retains it's traditional values of meeting individual customer
requirements at its heart.
Even today,
every piece of furniture we create has been individually commissioned to fulfil
the customer's specifications and complement the character of their home. Which
means we create furniture that is unique. We don't have standard designs nor do
we have standard sizes - just furniture that meets your precise, personal
requirements.

Personal Service...
Every commission begins with a visit by Mike Chadwick where
you will receive his undivided attention, expertise and the benefit of 25 years
experience in cabinet making.
He will
discuss your project and how to make the most of the space available. He will
measure, take a note of any period detailing and get a general feel for the
room, but most of all - he will listen. Which is your chance to say exactly
what you want, what you must have and how you want to live in the room we
create. After all, it is your home.
Based
upon that discussion we will produce scale drawings and elevations to show the
suggested scheme, together with an indication of costs. |
