Design & Craftsmanship
Our whole approach to designing and making furniture is a
very personal one. First and foremost, we listen, takes measurements and make
notes - in order to be sure we capture your exact specifications and
requirements.
Secondly, your
furniture is then handmade by our team of highly skilled craftsmen who have
been trained in the traditional skills of cabinet making and use only the
finest materials available.
Matthew
James' doors are constructed from seasoned hardwoods using mortise and tenon
joints and feature a traditional centre panel. The majority of our doors are
then set within a timber frame and are hung using traditional butt hinges. Our
veneered cabinets are polished along with the matching timber drawer boxes,
which are expertly dovetailed for lasting strength and are supported on the
highest quality runners for effortless use and greater
durability.
Using the traditional methods
of cabinet making demands much greater time and skill than constructing
cabinets which have doors that are fitted flush.

Hand Painted
All
our furniture can be interpreted in many different ways, including hand painted
finishes with colours from the Farrow & Ball collection and other BS
standard paints.
Having your furniture
painted with a tradtional paint effect could take around a week to complete,
depending on the finish required. The majorty of our finishes are completed in
the workshop, whilst in other cases we apply the finish in your home once the
cabinets have been installed
The final
process of the hand painted furniture is to seal the cabinetry with a hard
wearing lacquer. |
