Hi Gloss Painted
Kitchen
We visited
Matthew James' showroom armed with ideas of how we wanted our new kitchen to
look and function.
There was some building work to be done first to remove an
entrance hallway to allow us to create a spacious kitchen and dining area,
which we organised ourselves as we knew a good builder.
The Aga was already in place, something we'd had for a number
of years, but we wanted a more contemporary style kitchen with a traditional
twist and a splash of colour, with the kitchen and dining areas
defined.
Anna and Mike understood exactly
what we were after and set about designing the kitchen, incorporating all of
our ideas and with a few tweeks we were there! However, shortly after placing
the order we had a change of heart on the fridge as we decided it wasn't going
to be big enough! We'd originally opted for a built under fridge in the
peninsular and although the kitchen was underway being made we asked Anna if we
could change it to the Rangemaster side by side Fridge/Freezer. Thankfully,
Anna quickly changed the plans and the new fridge was integrated into the
design without too much disruption to the
manufacturing!
The final sketch included flat panelled doors with chrome
bar handles, which were painted in Farrow & Ball's Joa's White and finished
with a Hi-Gloss lacquer. We chose to have a Villeroy & Boch Double Belfast
sink to bring a traditional element into the design, which sat upon an oak drip
mould, proving 'old and new' do sit well together. Black Galaxy granite was
chosen for the worktops with purple glass for the splash back behind the Aga,
which matched the colour beneath the breakfast bar and inside the curved wall
cabinet in the corner. Changeable coloured LED lights were used beneath the
breakfast bar with white lights for the display areas.
Overall verdict - we absolutely love our new kitchen and it
works exactly as we wanted, with a space for everything and are so pleased we
decided to change the fridge. |
